KM #192 - Summer Escapade; 23rd July 2011

Day 1

Itinerary for Day 1; Reccee ard XMD, Mr J, Taipei 101 and Shilin NM

We kicked start the day by having Bubbleee Tea 1st. (Its only next door of our Hotel)

Then we went to search for 阿宗面线.
 Our no. 1 strategy for the trip is "ASK".
Of cos we did asked for help while searching for it but the people there also like not very sure either.

I find it really crazy, holding a bowl of mee sua on your hand, standing under the 35 degree weather but it is really delicious and yummy!! We took it original without adding any vinegar or condiments.

NT $40 for a small bowl and NT $60 for a big bowl.

We shared the big bowl and (OMG!!) we were SUPER FULL after that bowl that we decided to skip Mr J and instead continue exploring XMD before heading to Taipei 101.

Taipei 101

We took the MTR from 西门 station - 市政府 station (blue line) and exit No. 2.

Ohh yahh.. .. they also do have their version of Ez-link cards which is called EasyCard (悠遊卡) which can be easily purchased from their MTR stations bahh. We got ours for free because the hotel receptionist gave it to us.
So nice (again), rite??

We got lost in City Hall and decided to seek help at Information Counter.
As per advise, there are 2 ways to get to 101.

1) 101 shuttle bus - every 20 mins for a bus.

2) By foot.
The pretty receiptionst told us that it is faster to walk than wait for the bus, so we did.

And we got 101 in about 10 minutes time with a Cold Stone on hand.
Yumms!!!

 

The legendary Taipei 101. 

I did not get to explore the whole of 101 because Rabb is not a shopping-mall-person, so yahh.. .. the only purpose was the Observatory @ 89th and 91th floors nia.

Look at the crowd?? We Q-ed for about 20mins to go up.

I did not manage to capture pictures while in the elevator because it was crowded, but it took only about 30 secs to reach Level 89.

WOWW!!!

We made it just in time for sun-set.. ..

Aint its beautiful...???

Actually there is nothing much to do up there besides admiring the scenery.

Ohh! I sent postcards home(s).

1 to my present home and 1 to Punggol home, but the 1 to Punggol seems to got lost in transit.

Rabb wanted to dine on the 85th level very much but somehow, we did not do enough homework.
Never mind, there is always next time, dear!


 士林夜市

2nd dosage of Bubble Tea back in the room.

We took a cab back to XMD, got changed and left for Shilin NM via MTR.

Our 2nd strategry was "FOLLOW THE CROWD".
Upon alighting at the station, we got lost even after looking at signage, so we decided to follow the crowd! Haha!
Anyway, Shilin foodcourt is directly opposite the station, whereas the street is diagonally opposite the station.
Follow the crowd, wont get lost.

It is basically Pasar Malam but its much more livelier and fun with lotsa shopping and eateries.

The food we ate.
Pig blood, quail eggs, XO凉面, smelly tofu, duck blood, sweet potato balls, 生煎包(not in pic) and BBQ Squid (not in pic).

Going to Taiwan has never been in my list of Places-to-go but I’m glad I did.

I always have this strong rejection and reaction whenever people always commented that how fun, how fun Taiwan was. But true indeed, Taiwan’s pretty fun, partially because the people there are sincerely nice and heartwarming. Or maybe because we are all Chinese too?! I dunno but they are really genuinely nice people. We even made new friends there, you know?!


Anyway, do stay tune for Day 2 ya.. ..

Its 1am already.. .. have to wake up like usual timing later for DX's birthday bashh!
